Je m’appelle yves lacroix, je suis né en 1972 en France et je suis photographe.

Mon enfance a été bercée par l’image, de longues heures passées devant la télévision avec ma grand-mère à rêver devant les grands espaces des western américains tout autant que devant les séries elles aussi américaines. J’y ai sans doute trouvé les débuts de mon amour pour l’image et de mon inspiration pour cet imaginaire américain qui ne m’a jamais quitté depuis.

De formation juridique, diplômé d’une maitrise en droit privé des affaires et d’un mba en marketing digital, je quitte très vite ce monde pour m’orienter vers la photographie en devenant assistant dans un studio de photo de mode parisien en 1997.

Après un an passé au studio Pin-up à paris, je pars pour New-York City afin d’y assister un photographe français. Malheureusement la difficulté à obtenir des papiers me force à rentrer en France avec ce sentiment d’une histoire inachevée.

Mes années d’assistanat avec des photographes tels que Ronan Guillou, Dominique Issermann, Patrick Demarchelier, Neil Kirk et bien d’autres m’ont permis de voyager et de renforcer cette attirance pour le voyage et les Etats-Unis où je vais retourner de nombreuses fois.

Me dirigeant tout d’abord vers la mode, le portrait et le reportage à mes débuts en tant que photographe, j’ai ensuite développé un travail de nature morte, m’ouvrant sur des nouvelles techniques.

J’ai été chef d’entreprise, créant une société externalisant la réalisation des images des marques pour leurs sites e-commerce, avec pour clients des marques telles que Van Cleef & Arpels, Yves Saint-Laurent ou encore Karl Lagerfeld.

Parallèlement je débutais mon premier projet artistique, projet qui allait réunir mon amour pour le cinéma, les Etats-Unis et la photographie : « the villains ». Des mises en scènes grand format où les maux de notre société allaient s’exprimer dans un univers que je souhaite le plus américain possible.

En 2022 je déménage de Paris à Nice.

Aujourd’hui je consacre mon temps à la réalisation de mes projets photographiques.

Mon travail se veut cinématographique, onirique, souvent habité par un inconscient américain. Parfois teinté d’une pointe d’humour ou de cynisme, le travail de la lumière y revêt une importance capitale, tout comme les lieux, ambiances et décors tout aussi cruciaux que les personnages qu’ils mettent parfois en scène.

My name is Yves Lacroix, I was born in 1972 in France and I am a photographer.

My childhood was rocked by images, long hours spent in front of the TV with my grandmother dreaming of the wide open spaces of American westerns as well as the American series. There I undoubtedly found the beginnings of my love for images and my inspiration for this American imagination which has never left me since.

With a legal background, a master’s degree in private business law and an MBA in digital marketing, I quickly left this world to focus on photography, becoming an assistant in a Parisian fashion photo studio in 1997.

After a year spent at the Pin-up studio in Paris, I left for New York City to assist a French photographer. Unfortunately the difficulty in obtaining papers forces me to return to France with this feeling of an unfinished story.

My years of assistantship with photographers such as Ronan Guillou, Dominique Issermann, Patrick Demarchelier, Neil Kirk and many others allowed me to travel and strengthen this attraction for travel and the United States where I will return from many times.

Initially moving towards fashion, portraiture and reporting in my early days as a photographer, I then developed still life work, opening myself up to new techniques.

I was a business manager, creating a company outsourcing the creation of brand images for their e-commerce sites, with brands such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Yves Saint-Laurent and Karl Lagerfeld as clients.

At the same time I began my first artistic project, a project which would bring together my love for cinema, the United States and photography: “the villains”. Large format productions where the ills of our society would be expressed in a universe that I hope is as American as possible.

In 2022 I am moving from Paris to Nice.

Today I devote my time to carrying out my photographic projects.

My work is intended to be cinematic, dreamlike, often inhabited by an American unconscious. Sometimes tinged with a touch of humor or cynicism, the work of lighting is of capital importance, as are the locations, atmospheres and settings, which are just as crucial as the characters they sometimes portray.
